What is the difference between gene and cell therapy?

The aim of gene and cell therapy are somehow found nearly similar. They both mainly utilize in the treatment of genetic disease, or acquired diseases. Genetic diseases which someone got from their genes or in simple word through heredity (i.e. from one generation to another generation) and acquired diseases are the one which a person get in to their life cycle.

The material through which disease get inherits from our parents that is called genetic material like DNA which is also known as genes. The genetic or acquired diseases that got treated by genes or DNA segments, the inherited material that type of treatment is known as "Gene Therapy". This therapy mainly occurred through a mediator known as Vector or Carrier through which genes transferred in to the required cells or infected cells to cure the diseases.

On the other hand cell therapy not just use the genetic material but also the whole cell content to treat the diseases. In this therapy whole material of the cell including genetic material use for this requirement. In simple words this is the main difference between gene and cell therapy, however they both use for the similar treatment functionality and for biomedical research.
