The protein name of KanR is Aminoglycoside 3'-phosphotransferase. It is from Brucella abortus. The expression of KanR is under the control of a prokaryotic promoter not active in eukaryotes. NeoR’s protein name is also Aminoglycoside 3'-phosphotransferase. But it is from Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Heidelberg and active in eukaryotes (UniProt).

Hi Amy, Thanks for this information. Can you help me with what is the sequence of a native (or generally used) KanR promoters. I couldn't find one before KanR gene in my prokaryotic plasmid. Thanks


Thanks for the Reply Amy. The two sequences are of KanR gene. Probably, I couldn't articulate the question clearly last time. Actually I do have the 'gene' sequence, and need only the 'promoter' sequence. Kindly share if you have some info. Thanks
