The Phosphoric Acid Price Trend in Q2 2026 showed a clear upward movement across most major markets, supported by higher raw material costs, steady fertilizer demand, and growing demand from food processing and industrial applications.
During the April–June quarter, prices increased in North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and South America, although the scale of the increase varied by region and product grade.
Rising sulphur and phosphate feedstock costs put pressure on production expenses, while higher yellow phosphorus costs played an important role in the food-grade market. At the same time, shipping uncertainty and changes in import demand influenced buying decisions.
Overall, the quarter reflected a market where supply costs remained high and buyers had to adjust their purchasing strategies to changing conditions.
The global phosphoric acid market experienced a broad price increase in Q2 2026. Most regions recorded higher prices compared with the previous quarter, but differences in raw material availability, production costs, inventories, and trade flows created different market conditions.
North America recorded some of the strongest increases in fertilizer-grade phosphoric acid. Prices in the USA, Canada, and Mexico rose by approximately 18–20% quarter-on-quarter. Firm agricultural demand, higher sulphur costs, and increased export prices supported this movement.
Asia Pacific experienced particularly strong gains in food-grade phosphoric acid. China, Australia, and South Korea recorded quarterly increases of around 37–39%, while Vietnam and India also registered higher prices over the quarter. Rising yellow phosphorus production costs in China were a major factor behind the increase, especially because several importing markets depend on Chinese supplies.
In Europe, price increases were more moderate. Spain and Belgium recorded quarterly gains of approximately 11–12%. Comfortable inventories, sufficient product availability, and cautious fertilizer purchasing limited the pace of increases compared with other regions.
Meanwhile, fertilizer-grade prices in Morocco and Jordan strengthened as export demand remained firm. Brazil and Saudi Arabia also recorded higher import prices because of their dependence on supplies from these exporting markets.
These regional differences show why the global Phosphoric Acid Price Index is useful for understanding market direction. Although the general trend was upward, the actual price movement depended on product grade, supply origin, freight conditions, and local demand.
Morocco recorded a quarterly price increase of 13% for fertilizer-grade phosphoric acid, with prices quoted on an FOB Casablanca basis for the 50–55% grade.
The increase was mainly linked to higher rock phosphate and sulphur costs during the early part of Q2 2026. These materials are important inputs in phosphoric acid production, so changes in their prices can directly affect manufacturing expenses. Strong demand from international fertilizer buyers also supported export quotations.
