Lila Game almost by accident

I didn’t know how to play and didn’t want to mess it up, so before joining a live session I checked the rules on https://lila-game.net/en/rules to understand the mechanics and the philosophy behind it. What I appreciated is that it’s not just “roll and move.” You define an intention, you throw the dice, and then you reflect deeply on the state where you land. The board itself is built around 72 squares, each representing a specific inner condition, and they’re grouped into levels that symbolize stages of consciousness. When I finally played with a facilitator, I realized how important it is to slow down. At first I wanted to rush forward, almost like I was trying to win, but that completely missed the point. The facilitator kept reminding us that the movement reflects our inner journey, not some external competition. One practical tip: be brutally honest when interpreting your square. If you land on something uncomfortable like attachment or pride, don’t sugarcoat it. That’s usually where the real work is. Also, play when you have enough time and emotional space. This isn’t something to squeeze in between errands. For me, the combination of clear rules, symbolic structure, and open discussion created a surprisingly deep experience. I’ve returned to it a few times with different intentions, and each time the path across the board felt unique and relevant to whatever I was dealing with in life.
