Magainin 2

Description:

Magainin II is a hemolytic and antibiotic peptide isolated from frog skin. Magainins are positively charged and amphiphatic. Magainin II is thought to preferentially bind to the anionic phospholipids abundant in bacterial membranes with the formation of dynamic peptide-lipid supramolecular pore and cell permeabilization. Binding to artificial neutral membranes has also been demonstrated.
