  • Dr. Shao’s researches focus on pathogenic bacteria and their hosts’ innate immune mechanisms, designing potential new therapeutic strategies or vaccines for hard-to-treat bacterial infections and related diseases.

Dr. Nathan Hillson
Joint BioEnergy Institute
  • Built a global alliance of biofoundries for enabling the rapid design, construction, and testing of genetically reprogrammed organisms for biotechnology applications and research.
  • Leads the SynBio software infrastructure and operation of DIVA DNA construction.
  • Contributed 531 plasmids for sharing on MolecularCloud
